who/what is a skull_face?!

I am a library assistant working in the Bay Area. My alias “Skull-face Librarian” is partly in reference to the series Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san. The series focuses on a bookseller in Japan and the interactions he has with his coworkers and customers. The show is hilariously relatable if you work in public service. Much like Honda-san, I thoroughly enjoy my job at the library and learn something new every day.  Whenever someone says “ISBN” my mind goes to this AMAZING opening

I love to read manga and watch anime; my favorite series are One Piece by Eiichiro Oda and Berserk by the late Kentaro Miura. I also love to watch movies, with psychological thrillers and horrors being my favorites. When I’m not watching movies, I am enjoying a hike and flipping logs looking for salamanders!

About the Blog

Teens today continue to enjoy media that explores the complexity of growing up as a teen. The stories explored are grounded and full of horror and violence and hope, love and inspiration. Some are a fusion of old and new, and others celebrate different cultures, but all have a sense of bringing different worlds together. It’s hopeful to see that young adult media trends indicate a continual diversification of the stories being told. This small YA library is a start to my journey in building an inclusive collection; I hope readers enjoy.
